Hollow and thin-walled profiles (Structural hollow sections)

Hollow profiles, also known as structural hollow sections, are thin-walled rolled profiles with closed cross-section – square, rectangular or circular. Thanks to optimal strength-to-weight ratio, they are ideal for modern welded structures where material savings are important while maintaining high load capacity. They are manufactured in two ways: by hot rolling (hot finished) directly from steel ingots, or by cold forming from steel strips, which are bent into the desired shape and longitudinally welded. Square and rectangular profiles have excellent compression properties and are used as columns and reinforcements, circular hollow profiles find application in structures with high aesthetic requirements. We supply profiles in grades S235 to S355 according to European standards, in various sizes and wall thicknesses, with custom cutting available.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between hollow profiles and structural hollow sections?
Structural hollow sections is the English term for thin-walled hollow profiles. Generally, it's the same type of product – rolled hollow profiles with thin walls, ideal for welded structures.
When to use square and when rectangular profile?
Square profiles have the same load capacity in all directions – suitable for columns and symmetric structures. Rectangular profiles have higher load capacity in the longer direction – ideal for beams and reinforcements.
Do you cut hollow profiles to size?
Yes, we offer cutting of hollow profiles to required length. Cuts are made precisely according to your specifications.
What wall thicknesses are available?
We supply hollow profiles with wall thicknesses from 2 mm to 16 mm. Standard range is 2–8 mm, thicker walls on order.
